RENOUNCING DESIRES IS WORTHWHILE

Standing under

A hoary pipal tree, 

I realize 

Life is a puzzle , 

An unsolved mystery. 

But the one

Who comprehends

The secret of beginning

And the purpose of end

He becomes the Buddha

Full awakened

A saint who redeems , 

A soul enlightened. 

He cures

The suffering humanity

With the medicine

Of his sermons' austerity. 

Soon, like a sage 

I begin to smile

Renouncing desires

Is worthwhile. 

Now, I have nothing to lose

Nothing to gain

The complete Nirvana

From pleasure and pain.
