The U.S. Embassy Introduces Its New Spokesperson at a Friendly Reception in Nouakchott

The Chargé d'Affaires at the U.S. Embassy in Nouakchott, Mr. John Ice, hosted a reception at his residence this evening to introduce the new spokesperson for the embassy and the cultural and media officer, Mr. Jason Seymour.

The event was attended by a group of Mauritanian journalists, representatives of civil society organizations, and several friends of the embassy, all in an atmosphere of warmth and cultural closeness. The meeting featured open discussions between the guests and members of the American diplomatic team, reflecting the spirit of cooperation and partnership between the two countries.

In his remarks, Mr. Jason Seymour expressed his happiness about joining his new role in Nouakchott, emphasizing his deep respect for the journalism profession, which he began his career with. He assured that the embassy would continue to support training programs aimed at journalists and entrepreneurs as part of efforts to enhance cultural exchange between the United States and Mauritania.

For his part, the embassy's Political and Economic Affairs Officer, Mr. Thomas Bronz, expressed his great appreciation for journalists, citing his personal connection to the field since his wife works in it. He revealed a previous film project he produced that tells the story of a young American woman who chose to enlist in the army as her only option for work, experiencing a difficult journey that ended in tragedy with her suicide, stressing the importance of highlighting such impactful stories.

This reception is part of the U.S. Embassy's openness to various actors in the media and cultural scene in Mauritania, reinforcing the bridges of cooperation and constructive dialogue between the two sides.
