When do we know that Israel is America?
Written by: Nasser Al-Salmouni
The war on Gaza is no longer just a military conflict or a border confrontation. It has become a comprehensive project aimed at uprooting its people and destroying its infrastructure, in preparation for redrawing the map of the region to serve the dream of a “Greater Israel.”
The outlines of this plan were revealed in statements by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who did not hesitate to talk about displacing Palestinians through the Rafah crossing, claiming that half of them wanted to leave.
It was also revealed in the plan of Donald Trump—who changed the name of the Ministry of Defense to the Ministry of War—which heralds a "Gaza Riviera" after the displacement of its people. This is part of a (US-Israeli) vision to evacuate the Strip of its inhabitants and dig a strategic canal that would rival the Suez Canal and serve Israeli economic and military hegemony.
This project is not surprising to its sponsors. The United States, which supports Israel without limits, was itself built on the ruins of annihilated peoples. Modern America was founded on the liquidation and extermination of indigenous populations or their displacement to isolated reservations, just as Israel is doing today to the Palestinians: destroying villages, besieging and starving, killing and displacing, and forcibly imposing new facts on the ground until the indigenous people become strangers in their own land. Just as the world was silent at the time about the genocide of the American Indians, today it is turning a blind eye to the tragedy of Gaza, in a blatant repetition of the same colonial-settler scene.
While the scene may seem abstractly political to some, the following figures speak a terrifying truth:
700 days of genocide, statistics of martyrs, missing persons and massacres:
(73,731) The total number of martyrs and missing persons since the beginning of the genocide.
(64,300) The total number of martyrs who arrived at hospitals since the beginning of the war of extermination.
(9,500) missing, including martyrs who are still under the rubble, or whose fate is still unknown.
(+20,000) The number of child martyrs, of whom (19,424) arrived at hospitals.
(+12,500) The number of female martyrs, of whom (10,138) arrived at hospitals.
(8,990) The number of martyred mothers.
(22,404) The number of martyred fathers.
(1,009) children were martyred and they were less than one year old.
(+450) infants were born and martyred during the genocide.
(1,670) martyrs from the medical staff were killed by the "Israeli" occupation.
(139) Civil Defense martyrs were killed by the “Israeli” occupation.
(248) martyrs among journalists were killed by the “Israeli” occupation.
(173) martyrs from municipal employees in the Ara sector, including (4) mayors.
(+780) martyrs from the police and security forces were killed by the "Israeli" occupation.
(860) Martyrs from the sports movement from all sports.
(+39,000) families were subjected to massacres by the "Israeli" occupation.
(2,700) families were wiped out and erased from the civil registry (8,563 martyrs).
(6,020) families were wiped out, leaving only one survivor (12,911 martyrs).
(+55%) of the martyrs are children, women and the elderly.
(376) martyrs due to hunger and malnutrition, including (134) children.
(23) martyrs due to incorrect airdrops of aid.
(41%) of kidney patients lost their lives due to lack of food and health care.
(+12,000) miscarriages among pregnant women due to lack of food and health care.
(17) martyrs due to the cold in forced displacement camps, (including 14 children).
These numbers are not just statistics, but damning testimony to a genocide taking place before the eyes of the world.
Despite this, the world's governments remain captive to the American decision, subject to White House pressure, and ignoring the growing popular movement in their capitals in support of Palestine. The double standard has become blatant: what is happening in Ukraine is portrayed as a heroic resistance that warrants financial and military support, while Palestinians defending their land are portrayed as "terrorists" or "obstructors of peace."
As for international human rights organizations, which have been making waves around less serious issues, they have remained eerily silent regarding what is happening in Gaza, even though the scenes of mass murder, destruction, and starvation are being broadcast live before the eyes of the entire world.
A legitimate question is: Why hasn't any Arab or Islamic country severed diplomatic ties with Israel in response to what's happening? Isn't the killing and displacement taking place sufficient to impose political and diplomatic isolation on the occupation? Or is the Arabs' only weapon today denunciation, condemnation, and denunciation, while the Zionist project continues to advance its goals unchecked?
What is happening in Gaza today is not a passing war, but rather a link in a colonial chain extending from the genocide of Native Americans to the uprooting of Palestinians from their land. Unless the world moves to break this cycle, the blood mill will not stop.
Egypt, with its army, people and leadership, stood firm to declare that its land will not be a gateway for the displacement of Palestinians, and that it will not participate in the liquidation of the Palestinian cause. Egypt has been clearly confronting the plan since its inception, refusing to submit to pressure or join the conspiracy. But as it engages in this political and moral battle, the question remains: Who will stand behind it in times of hardship? Will it find among the Arabs and Muslims those who share its steadfastness and translate slogans into practical positions, or will Egypt remain alone, raising its voice in defense of Palestine in a time of silence and submission?! And the agents accuse it of closing the crossings and aiding in starvation!?
